CMCS to Focus on Value-Line Handsets
December 16, 2005
After being acquired by Foxconn, Taiwanese CMCS (Chi Mei Communication Systems) has rearranged its strategy to focus on value-line handsets, from the original high-end and medium-range models, so as to make the best use of Foxconn's advantages in its international client base and production. In addition, CMCS has tried to secure orders from Motorola with its ultra-value-line models, which is expected to be fulfilled provided the sales of its value-line models for Motorola are brisk. The deepened partnership between CMCS and Motorola is likely to affect Motorola's orders to Compal Communications, the major Taiwanese contract maker for Motorola.
